About the Studio

Connecting Stations is a cross-ethnic, multicultural design studio and activist platform that brings together designers, artists, architects, and educators from diverse backgrounds. The studio works at the intersection of design, pedagogy, and civic engagement, creating design-driven experiences that train participants to adopt multiple perspectives and open new channels of communication.

Emerging from the realities of the Middle East, Connecting Stations develops tools, workshops, and spatial experiences that foster empathy, trust, and shared imagination between communities—particularly between Palestinians and Israelis, Arabs and Jews. The work is grounded in field research, co-created processes, and long-term collaborations with local partners, with the aim of designing not only artifacts, but infrastructures for dialogue and resilience.

My Role

Within Connecting Stations, I contribute as a multidisciplinary artist and designer specializing in new media and code-based interaction. My work focuses on translating complex social and environmental questions into participatory experiences and digital tools.

In practice, this includes:

  • Designing interactive and narrative systems that support workshops and public programs
  • Developing digital and visual tools (such as story-based interfaces and AI-assisted platforms) that help participants imagine shared futures
  • Shaping the spatial and experiential language of installations and activities, from atmosphere to interaction flow
  • Bridging between research, technology, and embodied experience, ensuring that complex ideas remain accessible, felt, and grounded in place

My contribution is to build the interfaces—both digital and experiential—that allow participants to enter the work not only as spectators, but as active storytellers.

Impact on My Practice

Connecting Stations deepens my ongoing interest in collective storytelling, relational sensing, and design as a tool for social imagination. It extends my practice beyond the museum and gallery space into communities and real sites of tension, where design must hold both sensitivity and clarity.

Working within this studio reinforces the same questions that guide my installations like Pulse Now, Good Measure, and Single Body, Many: How can systems—technical, social, or spatial—create conditions for attunement, listening, and new kinds of togetherness?
